Ferry Building

The Ferry Building is a terminal for commuters before the bridges were built. It is one of the city’s landmarks and houses a vibrant marketplace and frequent farmers markets. When it first opened, it was the largest project undertaken in the city up to that time. The present structure was designed in 1892 by A. Page Brown. The highest quality materials were used, such as marble and mosaics for the state seal.

Each week nearly 40,000 shoppers visit the farmers market near the building. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a California certified farmers market. For vendor profiles and upcoming events, please visit cuesa.org.
